Iulie 2011, Thessaloniki, Grecia - Report on JOBTRUST meeting

Thessaloniki, 21-22 July, 2011

The collaboration of the Centre for Tourism Training with Job Trust has started in 2008 and since that time the Romanian centre has sent to Jobtrust approximately 20 students for the purpose of carrying out practical or placement activities in Greek hotels. The firm is an intermediary between the placement hotel or organization and the beneficiary or trainee. The firm’s role is to provide European institutions and students with holiday job opportunities in Greek hotels. The firm is reliable, has a good reputation and, upon the completion of the placement, provides the placement students with certificates of placement, placement contracts and other certification papers.
The firm works with 1 000 students every year and collaborates with many European institutions from Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Moldavia, Latvia, Austria, Estonia, Lituania, Romania, etc.

JobTrust has a firm work timetable which starts with visits to the collaborative institutions and with presentations of its offer to potential students prior to the application period. The applications are online, but the interviews are carried out either over the phone or face-to-face. JobTrust staff pay visits to the students at their placements and monitor them on a permanent basis. It is this concern devoted to the students and their progress that makes JobTrust such a reliable placement partner.

Besides, the students who have carried out placement activities in hotels in Greece have returned to the home institution extremely satisfied with the work, the working conditions and terms, the travel arrangements, the subsidies, and their entire work experience.

Starting this year, JobTrust will inaugurate a new placement policy which will address and include not only students but also tourism workers with at least 3 years of practical experience. The Centre for Tourism Training, as a reliable partner, will also benefit from this new placement arrangement for work.

The dissemination activity of the LLP project Accreditation of the train the trainer carried out by Dr Silvia IRIMIEA, the representative of the CTT, Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj, was aimed at raising the Greek partner’s awareness of the training opportunity offered by the centre in collaboration with the European Rural Tourism International-Training Network and other European vocational institutions. The module organized by the Centre may address students from various Greek or European institutions who wish to increase their expertise regarding training the trainers for tourism entrepreneurship.

The Romanian and the Greek partner welcomed further collaboration opportunities.
